It’s 9:41 on a Tuesday night. A parent is spinning their daughter around the kitchen to the Frozen soundtrack, and somewhere mid-twirl they decide: this kid is taking dance. They’re not calling anyone. They’re not leaving a voicemail. They want to text.

If your studio doesn’t have a number they can text, they’re off to find one that does. Here’s how we fix that.

Locked or unlocked? Check in 30 seconds.

Phones bought outright are unlocked. Phones still being financed through a carrier are usually locked. Here’s how to check yours:

iPhone: Settings > General > About > scroll to Carrier Lock. “No SIM restrictions” means unlocked.

One choice, three paths. Pick the one that fits your phone.

  • Path A · Any phone, locked or not

A Google Voice number. Parents text it, it pops on your lock screen, and you answer with a saved reply. It costs nothing, and nothing is wasted if you upgrade later. Unsure? Start here.

  • Path B · Your phone is unlocked

A real second line inside the Messages app you already use, on the phone you already carry. Parent texts land next to your family’s, clearly labeled. About 15 minutes, for a low monthly cost.

  • Path C · Your phone is still being financed

A locked phone only refuses other carriers. Your own carrier can add a second number to it, and most owners have no idea this option exists. Parent texts land in Messages, clearly labeled. About 20 minutes, at your carrier’s price for a second number.

The setup takes minutes. The part after it is the payoff.

  • A voicemail greeting that turns every missed call into a text.
  • One saved reply for the question nearly every parent asks, typed with a three-key shortcut.
  • A test to run tonight: could a parent book a class on your website in under two minutes?
  • A Text button on your Google listing, where Google offers it.

US only. Google Voice numbers are available in the United States.

Keep it simple and it stays compliant: answer families one at a time. Bulk texting and automated messages need a registered business line.

Steps checked July 2026.

Give it 20 minutes tonight, and parents can text your studio.
